On Thursday, the Hegoalde civic centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz hosted a new Auzogune session where Ensanche 21 presented the European Agree project. This project aims to promote the energy rehabilitation of the façades of Adurtza and San Cristóbal neighbourhoods, as well as solving accessibility problems such as buildings without lifts.
In the presentation, the manager of the public company Ensanche 21, Jorge Ozkariz, and the architect, Isabel Pineda, explained that the project will propose to undertake comprehensive renovation works, where accessibility and energy efficiency will be the focus. It will include the creation of new financing systems designed specifically for this type of operation and guaranteeing the participation of residents in the process.
To this end, information meetings will be held in the coming weeks and a letter and explanatory leaflet will be mailed to all the residents involved.
Ensanche 21 also announced that the European Commission will finance technical proposals or pre-projects by building type.
These studies will include cost options, financing, planning etc. to help the property owners interested in carrying out this type of action when making decisions.
The European AGREE project envisages the mobilisation of an investment in energy efficiency in residential building of at least €8.5 million through the development of innovative mechanisms for identifying, mobilising and channelling the demand for financing for the energy renovation of residential building in the Basque Country. The Basque Government’s Department for the Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing, TECNALIA, the municipal town planning and housing companies of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basauri and San Sebastián, and Ihobe (the Environmental Public Company) are involved in this initiative.
