Donostia-San Sebastián City Council has recently unveiled its updated building environmental quality and energy efficiency byelaw, which includes ground-breaking energy efficiency measures.
The new byelaw is an update of the regulation passed by the City Council in 2009. It includes new construction aspects regarding the orientation of façades, windows and roofs to avoid unwanted energy losses or gains. It also envisages the use of more appropriate and cleaner technical facilities to ensure sustainable functioning and in line with the environmental targets set by the Ecology Councillor regarding reducing the CO2 emitted by the buildings, which accounts for 21.7% of the total emissions.
